7 Top Tips To Quit Snoring

If you are suffering from snoring then you understand perfectly that it’s not just some comical condition where you make a funny noise while you sleep (like in cartoons).  Snoring has real consequences on your mental and physical well being.

If you suffer from snoring you know exactly how it effects your health.  It can make you irritable and drowsy.  It leaves you feeling tired the next day.  It makes it hard for you to think clearly and make coherent decisions.  It can leave you depressed and angry and also greatly reduce your input at work (therefore the possibility of losing your job).

Snoring can also lead to more severe health problems like heart disease and cancer.

As you already know, snoring is not something to laugh at.

So how do you fix this problem?  How do you conquer it to make sure that you get the restful sleep that you need to make you feel whole again?  There are a few things you can do that can help you break the grasp that snoring has on you.

The 7 Top Tips To Quit Snoring

1. Quit smoking.  Smoking cigarettes is bad.  You probably already knew that.  Smoking is bad for your health and can make you snore by leading to a restriction of airflow.   So not only does it cause cancer but it also causes snoring.

2. Quit drinking.  Alcohol is also something that is terribly bad for your health.  But did you know that drinking alcohol will also make you snore? Drinking relaxes the muscles and the relaxing of the muslces in the throat can lead to snoring.

3. Lose some weight.  Being overweight can cause snoring.  The extra weight around your neck and face can restrict airways.

4. Get a normal sleep pattern.  Try and sleep around the same time and the same amount of hours every night.

5. Don’t take sleeping pills.  Sleeping pills do essentially the same thing alcohol does.  They relax your muscles which can lead to snoring.  If you are having trouble sleeping try reducing your caffeine intake, change your diet, and exercise.

6. Don’t take an antihistamine.  These casue the same symptoms in your body that cause snoring that sleeping pills and alcohol does.

7. Don’t eat too much and don’t exercise right before you go to bed.  Your body will be working hard after each one of these and so you don’t want to try and go to bed immediately afterward.

These are a few tips you can try to help stop your snoring.  Another option that you have is to try an anti-snoring device.  One of the most effective of these devices is the stop snoring chin strap.  They are effective and cost way less than surgery or expensive medications.
